Stardew Valley may possibly receive a 1.6 update from now on, although it seems unlikely to be one addition to the 1.5 version.

The 1.5 update for Stardew Valley came out late last year, and it was the game's biggest update of the game. It mostly introduced Ginger Island, a huge area with several missions and mysteries. On its western side, Ginger Island has a completely new dungeon, the Volcano Dungeon, as well as a distant farm. However, it's possible that Ginger Island overshadowed other parts of Stardew Valley's 1.5 updates, such as the Beach Farm layout.

As players finish 1.5's huge amount of content and experiment with modifications like Stardew Valley Expanded to improve the game's experience, many have wondered if the game would ever receive a 1.6 update. If it ever arrives, it will be a long time. Some indicators point to the update never happening, but that doesn't guarantee it.

As many people know, developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone and his girlfriend developed Stardew Valley as a rip-off of the old Harvest Moon games. One of their main gripes with the series was that the game would stop after a few short years, and the only option to continue playing was to restart from the beginning. However, in Stardew Valley, the pleasure never has to end, as some gamers have stayed in Pelican Town for almost 20 years.

As many people know, developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone and his girlfriend developed Stardew Valley as a rip-off of the old Harvest Moon games. So 1.5 being the "death" of Stardew Valley would oppose this concept, but the game can only be sustained for a certain period. Other games, such as Minecraft, have been around for far longer and continue to release new material. There are still numerous ways that Stardew Valley might be expanded in the future, based on what mods have come up with, such as introducing brand-new places. But, as the creator of almost the whole game, Barone must decide whether or not he wants additional updates.

There's Proof That Stardew Valley Won't Get A 1.6 Update

In an interview with Game Informer in September, Barone stated that he was "unwilling to commit" to a Stardew Valley 1.6 update. While this doesn't rule out the potential of a 1.6 upgrade in the future, it does indicate that Barone presently has nothing planned for it. It's also worth mentioning what makes Stardew Valley feel like it's reached the end of its update cycle.

In addition to Ginger Island and the Beach Farm, the 1.5 update to Stardew Valley adds the Perfection system. This prize is given to the player who completes the game completely by fulfilling specific requirements, such as capturing every Legendary Fish. It would be weird to release another update and then increase the Perfection system's criteria, since this would be confusing for people who have previously completed the accomplishment and received the prizes.

Barone has done quite a lot of effort on stardew Valley. The game was built entirely by the young creator, and it was only in recent years that he needed to engage outside aid, such as for the Multiplayer Update and the still-in-progress porting of 1.5 to mobile devices. Putting up a 1.6 update for Stardew Valley would be a lot of effort for him. While it's conceivable that 1.5 will be the final update to Stardew Valley, it's also possible that it won't.
