Nintendo has been quiet on the forthcoming Donkey Kong attraction for Super Nintendo World, although some work nearby indicates that it is already under construction.

While Super Nintendo World has opened in Japan, the parks in the United States are still in the planning stages owing to pandemic delays. Since its inception, Super Nintendo World has enjoyed tremendous success and popularity, however development near the Mario-themed site suggests that an update is on the way. After concept drawings for the expansion surfaced online, fans believe the structure shown in images indicates that a Donkey Kong expansion is being developed.

Despite the discovered concept art and the fact that the amusement park includes a closed tunnel that appears to be Donkey Kong-themed, Nintendo has yet to announce a DK expansion. In fact, dataminers discovered assets in the park's official app well before the park's expansion was announced. Even without an official announcement, too many factors stack up, and it appears that the expansion is already under construction.

Steel beams and cranes are being built immediately to the side of Super Nintendo World, according to photos provided on Twitter by @PUSJJJJ and @Hibirobo Disney. While there has been no official notification, the palm tree background that has already been installed fits the concept picture precisely. Closer inspection reveals that the trees are chopped off exactly where the picture depicts a temple with a waterfall, implying that the location is a little too perfect for it not to be the Donkey Kong world expansion.

The cranes are on the far-flung side of the park, directly behind Hogwarts Castle from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which seems to suggest that they're starting with that temple. There isn't much visible of the building now, but it's merely the foundation. The palm tree signs around it is undoubtedly the most telling feature.

It's puzzling that Nintendo has permitted so much of the park to be developed with so little notice. The expansion appears to be all but confirmed, with concept art, datamined Donkey Kong assets, and now construction. It's conceivable that Nintendo is holding off on announcing the expansion until the US parks open to the public.

Although with the DK park and attractions being developed, international fans won't be able to visit Japan anytime soon because the country's borders are still closed due to the epidemic. Hopefully, once the Donkey Kong expansion is completely operational, Super Nintendo World will be available in the United States as well.
