A conversation between Sakaguchi and Yoshida at the Tokyo Game Show indicated that Final Fantasy 16's major storyline is finished.

Although Final Fantasy 16 did not make any type of gameplay debut at the Tokyo Game Show, Yoshida did offer some updates on how the game's development is moving in a discussion alongside Sakaguchi titled, "The Appeal and Potential of RPG - Hironobu Sakaguchi and Naoki Yoshida."

ResetEra user Dreamboum pointed up the new information, which is based on what the interpreter stated during the broadcast. The most important piece of information to emerge from the webcast was Yoshida's announcement that the main scenario for Final Fantasy 16 has been completed. It's unclear what the "primary scenario" refers to, but it's safe to assume that the game's major quests are arranged and that you may play through it from beginning to end.

Yoshida also said that the game's models are nearly complete, with the team only needing to improve the quality slightly. This implies that all of the game's characters and adversaries have been chosen and are present in some way. Yoshida also claims that telling people how long the game has been in production will upset Square Enix, but that the team was focused on the core plot before speeding up development.

Fans will be interested to learn that Sakaguchi reportedly requested Yoshida if he could develop a quest for the game. Instead, Yoshida suggested that he compose a quest for Final Fantasy 14.

It's hardly unexpected that Final Fantasy 16 didn't show up at Tokyo Game Show, since Yoshida started a few months ago that the team was focused on the production and wouldn't likely show it out. The game's scenarios were reported to be set in stone at the time, implying that a lot of work had been done in the months following.
