ICARUS is a session-based PvE survival game that may be played by up to eight co-op or solitary players.

Confront and defeat a merciless PvE world out to wear you down or break you apart. Icarus is a volatile planet, with a toxic environment, vicious wildlife, and game-changing weather events. It all comes down to preparation and planning. Whether it's to discover a supply of oxygen, track down your next meal, or load up on supplies for a long trek into the wilderness.

Icarus, a horrific forthcoming survival game designed to give players a "Skyrim feel," now has a release date, according to Rocketwertz. Icarus is a session-based PvE game by the makers of Day Z about surviving an alien "planet designed to wear you down or break you apart."

Icarus will launch on December 4th, which is just around the corner, according to RocketWerkz. This wonderful news comes after the game's first release window in August, and since then, RocketWerkz has released a series of beta weekends for pre-ordering customers to sample everything the game has to offer throughout the past few months.

"Icarus is ready for launch after three months of beta testing and input from one of the most involved gamer communities I've ever seen," says RocketWerkz founder and developer Dean Hall. Icarus offers solo and co-op play for up to eight people across long-term missions on the planet that was originally intended to be a second Earth. According to the rigorous gameplay of Icarus, it stresses exploring, hunting, and collecting in order to escape a slew of perils such as game-altering weather occurrences, a toxic atmosphere, and ferocious fauna. Players are forced into the trenches as the game emphasizes the importance of crafting and stockpiling as time runs out on the deviously familiar alien land.

The survival portion of the game was aimed to provide gamers accustomed to the PvE open-world exploration title a "Skyrim feel." According to the Icarus teaser, the planet has three biomes for players to explore: desert, polar, and temperate forests. When warning players to prepare for what they may face, the devs described the planet as having a "temper." In distant places, the challenges of gathering supplies and ensuring the character have oxygen and food keep players on their toes. They can also obtain uncommon exotic items to manufacture into superior technologies for their ships.

Each mission completed on Icarus is limited, adding to the strain as players race against the clock to return to the orbiting ship in a timely manner. The game allows players to create towns as a shelter on the planet and forge machinery as they gather and craft. Icarus also has No Man's Sky elements among its Skyrim inspiration, with its open-world sessions enticing players with breathtaking graphics.

Icarus is now available for pre-order on Steam, with a 10% discount that expires on December 13th. However, on YouTube and Icarus' website, Surviving Icarus, gamers and developers have published a plethora of videos detailing each beta weekend and new advances in the game. Fans won't have much longer to wait as December approaches, but they will still have time to participate in its Community beta weekend, which will take place November 20-21st.

Icarus will be available on Steam on December 4th.
