In a future patch, Atlus is considering implementing rollbacks in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Remastered.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will not have a rollback netcode for online matches at launch because it contains all previously released content.
Atlus' Persona franchise, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, is having a huge year. As part of the celebration, Atlus has been announcing a variety of Persona-related news, ranging from basic announcements such as new products at the newly launched Shop Atlus online store to both music and stage performances. Many fans have been anticipating some major game announcements, with speculations circulating about a Persona 3 remake and a possible Persona 6 revelation.
The return of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, on the other hand, was revealed earlier this month at The Game Awards. P4AU is a partial sequel to Persona 4 Golden, in which the Investigation Team is invited to a combat competition known as the P-1 Grand Prix. It was first released in Japan in 2013 before making its way to platforms a year later. This version of the game isn't just a simple transfer of the original game; it also includes all of the DLC material as well as arcade-only exclusive upgrades, making it the most up-to-date version available.

However, all hope is not lost, as Atlus has stated that it is considering introducing rollback at a later stage, though no decision has been made as of yet. While the need for rollback has grown in recent years, the news that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will not include it at launch is surprising. Arc System Works had appeared to be at the vanguard of the rollback effort, having released Guilty Gear Strive earlier this year and being the developer on P4AU. This could mean that previous titles like Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R and Xrd 2 will be updated as well.
Whereas the reintroduction of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a pleasant surprise, many fans are hoping that recent speculations are correct. More announcements are on the way, but Atlus hasn't given any hints as to what they might be. Persona 3 and Persona 4 Golden being transferred to new platforms, remasters of previous games, and possibly a Persona 5 Arena game are all rumored to be announced. For the time being, fans must wait for additional information.
On March 17, 2022, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be released for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
