PS Plus owners of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will receive the PS5 upgrade this week.
PlayStation Plus members who purchased the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake when it was released earlier this year will get the PS5 upgrade this week.
Square Enix stated the upgrade will be available starting Thursday in a tweet from the final fantasy vii official account.
Starting this Wednesday...• PS Plus subscribers who previously redeemed @FinalFantasy VII Remake via @PlayStation Plus will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game.• Episode Intermission, the DLC featuring Yuffie Kisaragi, will be 25% off for a limited time! pic.twitter.com/mnkCIRR586— FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE (@finalfantasyvii) December 19, 2021
The upgraded version, which came out in June alongside Final Fantasy 7: Intergrade, was free for original game owners but not for those who redeemed it through PlayStation Plus.
While the tweet does not specify whether the upgrade will be free, it would be a significant departure from the free upgrade that other PS5 players received in June.

The PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake was recently released, and it has received a mixed response. The game has been dubbed "the worst release on PC in a long time" by Digital Foundry journalist Alex Battaglia.
On December 17, one day after the game's PC release on the Epic Game Store, he tweeted about his issues with the port.
As I mentioned - I am not covering FFVIIR - yet the stutters that happen as you immediately get in game rendered graphics are just unacceptable.Anyone testing and playing this game on PC before release should surely realise that your cinematic game should not do that.— Alexander Battaglia (@Dachsjaeger) December 17, 2021
When the game was started in 'Default Mode, he later tweeted that the game had "incredible stutter" and that "every effect was displayed for the first and was accompanied by a long stutter."
John Linneman, another Digital Foundry journalist, backed up the reports, saying, "The smooth presentation was central to its storytelling, and this version compromises it.
Alert: Alex sent his clips over for us to check out and, yeah, the PC port of FFVIIR is terrible. He captured this using an RTX3090 + 10900k at just 1080p and it's a mess. The smooth presentation was central to its story telling and this version compromises it. https://t.co/wE9Wj1OAEz

Digital Foundry is expected to release a full video detailing the issues later this week, but until then, Alex Battaglia, speaking on resertera, concluded his thoughts by saying, "I humbly submit that no one should buy it." "This is literally the worst release I have seen on PC in a long time," they stated.
Final Fantasy 7's PC release has been marred by controversy, the most significant of which appears to be Square Enix's decision to sell the game for $70/£69.99, which puts it in line with next-generation consoles but is significantly higher than the publisher's other PC titles.
