Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is just a few months away from release, and fans are ready to experience it in its entirety. Square Enix has announced the official box art for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, which is evocative of earlier artwork while still including new ideas.

Final Fantasy Origin had a mixed response from fans and critics alike when it was introduced at E3 2021. While the idea of a prequel to the classic Final Fantasy is intriguing, Stranger of Paradise's edgy style, which is a stark contrast to the original title, was a turn-off for many. Fans were left reeling by a scenario in Final Fantasy Origin's latest demo, in which the protagonist, Jack, completely dismissed another character's poignant history before walking away with their music playing. Players will be able to personalize Jack and his party in this action RPG, which will also have fast-paced gameplay and multiplayer elements.

The box art for Final Fantasy Origin has been revealed, and it features the main cast of characters. The primary Warriors of Light of Jack, Jed, Ash, and the recently introduced Neon can be seen in a number of cross pictures, some of which only show their eyes and hair, while others include their nose and mice. The photos are assembled to form the silhouette of none other than Garland, whose armored helmet can be seen to the right of the emblem. This design is set against a typical Final Fantasy white background, resulting in a clean and classic visual.

Surprisingly, Jack is the only member of the Warriors of Light whose face is totally filtered in red, with the rest of the party's color palettes being quite normal, if not a little gloomy. Jack has established himself as an enraged protagonist in the veins of Kratos, who has just one objective in mind—killing Chaos—and never expresses himself too much in any other way in any of his previous appearances. In contrast to the representations under the official box art, previous key art for Final Fantasy Origin portrays Jack in a similar red filter, however, the linework is a bit more wispy and chaotic.

The Warriors of Light and Garland are seen on the box art, implying that they are the main characters in Final Fantasy Origin, though they are not the only ones. Many other Final Fantasy Origin characters were recently revealed in screenshots, including the King and Queen of Cornelia, Sarah and Mia, the Cornelia Princesses, and a pirate named Bikke, who was present in the original game but not significantly. It'll be interesting to see where this plot goes in order for it to tie into the original Final Fantasy correctly.

Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 18, 2022.

  1. I think the link for "Fans were left reeling" may be incorrect. I was looking for an article about Jack's lack of delicacy and instead I saw an article about a Tifa cosplayer.
