Following a leak a few hours ago, Crytek officially reveals Crysis 4 with a new teaser trailer and more information for the future.

Crytek stated The fourth Crysis game is currently in development.

"It's something you've been asking us for a long time, therefore it's finally time to confirm – yes, the next Crysis game is happening," CEO Avni Yerli wrote in a blog post announcing the announcement.

"We wanted to deliver you the news at this moment because we are so enthusiastic for the future, and to let you know that we will be listening to our community," Yerli said, adding that the game is still "in the early stages of production" and won't be ready for some time.

He even said, "Crytek has a proud history of engaging with our community to produce the games you want to play."

Crysis, a futuristic sci-fi shooter game, is known for pushing hardware to its limits. In fact, the Crysis series was notorious for pushing system requirements, prompting a joke among fans who would question, "But can it run Crysis?" while discussing a game with high system requirements. Aside from being a popular meme, the franchise would eventually make its way to consoles, further expanding the series' reach and helping it become a fan favorite.

Following the release of Crysis 3 in 2013, the series appears to have been placed on hold as developer Crytek has moved on to other projects such as Hunt: Showdown while also undergoing a restructure and new leadership. The Crysis franchise, on the other hand, would remain in the public eye thanks to recent remasters of the previous titles, which now appear to be a hint at more to come.

The official Crytek social media account in China appears to have posted the first image of Crysis 4 earlier than planned. The remark was posted earlier today on Crytek's official account on the Chinese website BiliBili, along with an image of a helmet lying on the ground.

The letter accompanying the image also revealed that it is from Crysis 4, adding, "Project Crysis 4 confirmed, opening up a new nano battlefield."

The Crysis 4 video is short, and the description reveals that the game appears to be in early development, so fans should not expect to see it for quite some time. The teaser shows what appears to be a city being devastated and crumbling apart, maybe as a result of solar flares. However, the number four emerges from the ruins, almost as if it were sewn together into a nano suit, a technique used by the Crysis protagonists.

Through the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, both new and experienced fans can catch up on the franchise. Recent upgrades have continued to improve the game, particularly on the PC side of things, including support for Deep Learning Super Sampling and the removal of the contentious DRM software Denuvo. For a number of reasons, fans dislike the anti-tamper software, and development teams have begun removing it from a range of games as a response.

Crysis 4 is currently in development.
