As part of the 2022 New Year's Honours List, British games industry veteran Ian Livingstone achieve knighthood.
Sir Ian Livingstone has been knighted. He is the founder of the Games workshop and a legendary figure in the gaming industry in the United Kingdom.
Sir Ian Livingstone has worked as a retailer, author, game developer, executive, and lobbyist in the industry. He has risen to the top of various industries during his nearly 50-year career, including being a board games retail pioneer, bestselling author, games creator, games industry leader, and effective educational government lobbyist.
Nearly 45 years after co-founding Games Workshop and 35 years after creating his first videogame, Eureka, Livingstone continues to be involved in the UK games industry, which he helped define as a co-founder of Eidos. Livingstone continues to play an important role in the video game industry, co-authoring the Subsequent Gen Expertise Assessment, which was used to improve digital and computing learning across the UK.

He also played a key role in the creation and development of the Tomb Raider series, is the author of the well-liked Preventing Fantasy sportsbooks, and currently invests in start-up online game makers as a part of Hiro Capital.

Flavourworks, Antstream, Fusebox, Midoki, The Secret Police, and Bossa are among the indie studios on which Livingstone serves on the board of directors. He's also a director of Sumo Group plc, which makes AAA console games including Little Big Planet 3.
Paul Durrant has been awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2022 New Year's Honours list (OBE). Durrant is the founder of UK Video Games Expertise and Finance CIC, which supports the development of early-stage video games through the UK Video Games Fund. Through the Tranzfuser program, also works with future business expertise.
Earlier that, he co-founded Dare To Be Digital, a competition for video game business competence in collaboration with BAFTA.
For services to the British gaming industry, Livingstone was awarded an OBE in 2006 and a CBE in 2013.
