A Petition is Requested to Allow Battlefield 2042 Players refunds on all platforms.

A petition asking for refunds for Battlefield 2042 on all platforms soon spreads online, as many people express their growing frustration with the game.

Battlefield 2042's promotional strategies were full of hope, but the game's innovations quickly soured among gamers when the game launched in poor shape. It soon slipped off several charts as players moved on to other games, and the recent postponement of Battlefield 2042's seasonal DLC didn't help matters. Battlefield 2042 is easily one of the most underwhelming titles of 2021, and many are now demanding refunds.

It's really no secret that Battlefield 2042 was a total flop. Several controversial adjustments to the attempted Battlefield formula have triggered a major outflow from the game, which has only been worsened by EA's announcement that Season 1 content will be postponed until the summer.

For reference, Battlefield 2042 players are likely to be requesting full refunds, similar to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Battlefield 2042 may improve over time, but for many, the initial glamor has worn off, it isn't what was promised, and its marketing is considered a misleading promotion, leading to a petition to Sony, Microsoft, Steam, DICE, and the Federal Trade Commission to enable refunds on all platforms.

Battlefield 2042 has reportedly cost consumers millions of dollars and dissatisfied hundreds of thousands of people, according to a Change.org petition. The petition mentions a number of events that have occurred since the game's release, including claims that it is unplayable, major Battlefield 2042 issues that tend to impact the in-game experience to this day, Steam refunds, and more. "Signing this petition is the equivalent of stating 'I wish I got a refund on this game,'" it continues.

Satoshi Nakamoto, the petition's originator, also claims that if the petition receives 50,000 signatures, the case against EA will be taken by one of the top-class-action lawyers. However, the lawyer isn't named, and the assertion isn't backed up by any proof. Nonetheless, this petition had 700 signatures five days ago (and has been live for at least three weeks, if not longer). The petition has nearly 20,000 signatures as of this writing.

"The gaming community should not tolerate this kind of abuse and bullying from multi-billion dollar companies who manufacture unfinished games and deceptive ads," Nakamoto concludes the petition. It's worth noting that these types of refunds don't usually succeed, and the case of Cyberpunk 2077's refunds was a surprising, practically industry-changing event, so it'll be interesting to watch if EA or Dice ever respond to this petition.

Considering this, the game's rapid growth shows how many people are invested in the Battlefield franchise as a beloved first-person shooter and a long-time competitor to Call of Duty, as well as how disappointed they are with the release. Battlefield 2042 may be able to turn things around, but based on recent events, it doesn't appear to be one of the industry's "redemption" titles.

Battlefield 2042 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox One X.
