EA has rejected previous reports that it blamed Halo Infinite for Battlefield 2042's launch challenges.

It's a bad time to be a Battlefield fan right now. Since the game's November release, there have been several complaints is received about its gameplay systems, the majority of its community has abandoned it in favor of previous Battlefield titles, and developers of some of the most beloved games have questioned what actually happened.

Even EA appears to be confused, as it recently raised some doubt on whether it blames Halo Infinite. EA also convened a meeting just a few days ago to review all that went wrong with Battlefield 2042. Within the meeting, it blamed some of Battlefield 2042's development troubles on working from home and the rapid debut of Halo Infinite's multiplayer, which was far more polished by comparison.

Because even though EA reportedly admitted to many of the other issues with 2042 during the meeting, many interpreted the Halo comment as EA blaming Infinite for the game's problems. However, the publisher has responded to those claims, claiming that they do not accurately reflect the context of the meeting and the topics discussed.

EA has rejected previous reports that it blamed Halo Infinite for Battlefield 2042's launch challenges.

According to PC Gamer, EA communications VP John Reseburg issued a statement in reaction to suggestions that Halo Infinite is to blame for some of the company's problems. The statement says as follows: "The dialogue and context, which was an in-depth and very humble internal conversation regarding the recent Battlefield launch, are not appropriate components in these reports. It wasn't about blaming external issues; it was about significant learnings and steps we're doing."

Given the lack of a transcript from the meeting and the contents being published by Xfile, it's difficult to know how accurate this statement is. It's a little more open to interpretation based on what Xfile says without clear quotes. Nonetheless, it appears that EA does not want to appear to be playing the blame game, and instead wishes to take responsibility for the status of 2042.
