Battlefield 2042 is getting a massive 4.0 update that includes over 400 changes

Battlefield 2042 is getting a massive 4.0 update that includes over 400 changes

Battlefield 2042's Update 4.0 will be out shortly, including dozens of new additional features, and now a DICE developer explains what to expect.

Battlefield 2042 is still in development by DICE. Its upcoming Title Update 4.0 is expected to offer some of the game's biggest changes yet. According to a member of the DICE team, Battlefield 2042 version 4.0 will include over 400 individual fixes, and the developer has revealed improvements fans can expect to see when the update goes live next week.

Battlefield 2042 has been out for five months and has received a mostly negative reaction from fans because of many issues and changes to the basic Battlefield gameplay. DICE has frequently announced its plans to listen to the Battlefield community's comments and provide concrete plans to improve the situation of Battlefield 2042 since the game's launch. The March Title Release 3.3 added some much-needed improvements, such as the scoreboard, and the creators promised that a larger update with more corrections was on the way. Title Update 4.0 is the name of the update, and it will be released next week.

DICE community manager Kevin Johnson stated on Twitter ahead of next week's update that Battlefield 2042's April update will include "400+ Individual Fixes, Bugs, and QoL Improvements." Following that, the community manager went through a few upcoming adjustments to Operators, XP, and gameplay balancing. Operators Rao and Paik will have their particular traits improved, and Sundance's grenade belt will be fixed. Ribbon commendations have been modified so that players may unlock them much faster across all modes, and XP for Support Actions has been rebalanced to emphasize teamwork. In addition, Battlefield 2042 will receive some vehicle adjustments in Update 4.0; Kevin guarantees that infantry/vehicle counterplay "still has some bite." Finally, weapon attachments have been reworked to ensure that guns feel unique and impactful when selecting a loadout.

Despite the extensive list of improvements coming to Battlefield 2042, and the fact that there are over 400 more fixes on the way, some fans believe it isn't enough. Long-standing concerns include performance issues, the game's squad structure, and mouse input issues still exist, and it's unclear whether Title Update 4.0 will fix them. With the first season of Battlefield 2042 set to begin early this summer, DICE may face some challenges as it juggles content updates and patches to improve the game.

Almost six months after its release, Battlefield 2042 is still having a difficult time in the public eye. Battlefield 2042's concurrent player count on Steam fell below 1,000 this week, and the game's daily average player count continues to fall. Furthermore, EA has claimed that work on the next Battlefield is already begun, potentially shortening the duration of Battlefield 2042, but it is unclear how long EA and DICE will support 2042. Next week, Battlefield 2042 will receive Title Update 4.0, which is expected to greatly improve the game's experience. DICE might yet be able to make a much-needed course correction and entice some Battlefield fans back.

Battlefield 2042 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
