Fortnite Creator Epic Games Raises $ 144 Million funds For Ukraine aid

Epic Games donated the earnings from its battle-royale game Fortnite spent over a two-week period to charities offering humanitarian help to those affected by Russia's war on Ukraine, raising a total of $144 million.

Epic previously announced that earnings from Fortnite will be donated to Ukraine aid from March 20 to April 3. Microsoft's Xbox also contributed to the cause by donating the net revenue from all Fortnite content sales on the Microsoft Store during the time period.

The money will go to five organizations, according to Epic: UNICEF, the United Nations World Food Programme, UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, Direct Relief, a nongovernmental organization that claims to have sent nearly 200 tons of medical aid to Ukraine since the start of Russia's war, and Chef José Andrés' World Central Kitchen food-aid organization.

Epic said in a tweet Monday announcing the $144 million amount, "Our sincerest appreciation to everyone who joined us in assisting humanitarian relief efforts for people affected by the crisis in Ukraine."
All real-money Fortnite purchases made during the two-week timeframe were included in the fundraising campaign, including V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, given Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs like the Voidlander Pack sold for real money. In-game cosmetics purchased in-store and V-Bucks cards redeemed in-game during this time period were also included. According to Epic, using V-Bucks in Fortnite is prohibited.

The humanitarian help initiative in Ukraine has no effect on creator earnings: Epic claims that between March 20 and April 3, it funded all author affiliate payments separately from code usage.
