PS4 Update |
The PlayStation 5 has received a new update, while Sony has released a new system software version for the PlayStation 4 at nearly the same time. The console's firmware has been updated to version 9.51.
The PS4's latest update will surprise anyone expecting a detailed list of fixes and improvements. "This system software update enhances system performance," states the only entry in the patch notes. That's not a lot of information, but it's all Sony has to say about the April 13th PS4 firmware update. At the very least, the patch is tiny in terms of data, coming in at only 491.8MB.
Players on the PlayStation 4 shouldn't have expected anything amazing from firmware update 9.51, to be sure. After all, substantial firmware updates for both the PS4 and PS5 were released just a few weeks ago, bringing a considerably larger variety of improvements. Open and Closed parties received a variety of improvements, fixes, and adjustments with the March 23rd updates. It also improved the PlayStation app and Remote Play functionality, including new UI and accessibility features.
