Sony announced a new system software version for the PlayStation 4 almost together with the release of a new update for the PlayStation. Version 10.00 of the console's firmware has been updated.
Along with the highly awaited PS5 firmware update, Sony today released PS4 system update 10.0. The PS4's firmware update doesn't offer as much as the current-gen platform, but that is to be anticipated given where the machine is in its lifecycle. However, PS4 still has a sizable installed base, and it's exciting to see updates coming. The Remote Play functionality and the Internet Browser have been enhanced with today's September 7 update.
PS4 Update Patch 10.00 Features / PS4 September 7 Update Patch Notes:
- While using the Internet Browser, you can now select between two types of zoom functions."Zoom" lets you increase the size of the elements on the page while adjusting their layout so everything fits without having to scroll left and right."Magnify" increases the size of everything on the page without layout adjustments.The maximum zoom/magnification rate is now 500%. We've updated the following for Remote Play.It's now easier to use the keyboard on your PC or Mac when using PS Remote Play.
- We've removed the text entry box so you can use your keyboard to type directly onto your PS5 console or PS4 console. In addition to typing, you can also now use the keyboard to control games that support it.
- Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named "PS4" on a USB drive formatted as FAT32. Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
- Download the update file (button below) and save it in the "UPDATE" folder. Save the file as "PS4UPDATE.PUP".
- Plug the USB drive containing the file into your PS4 console.
- Start the PS4 console in Safe Mode: press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep.
- Select Safe Mode option 3: Update System Software.
- Select Update from USB Storage Device > OK.
- Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named "PS4" on a USB drive formatted as FAT32. Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
- Download the reinstallation file (button below) and save it in the "UPDATE" folder. Save the file as "PS4UPDATE.PUP".
- Plug the USB drive containing the file into the PS4 console.
- Start the PS4 console in Safe Mode: press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep.
- Select Safe Mode option 7: Reinstall System Software.
- Select Update from USB Storage Device > OK.
- Select Notifications from the PS4 console function area, highlight the update file, and press the OPTIONS button > Delete.
- Next, select Settings > System Software Update.
