Apex Legends Player Comes Up with Interesting Idea to Make Sentinel Better

A fan of Apex Legends proposes a Sentinel upgrade that would make the sniper rifle more useful in specific situations.

There are many ways that Respawn Entertainment might be able to make Apex Legends better, and one player has a suggestion for a change they'd like to see. Apex Legends underwent a number of positive changes in 2022, and it's likely that 2023 will see at least some of those same changes. If said fan has their way, one of those changes might make the Sentinel sniper rifle a useful tool for slamming doors.

Most of the time Players of Apex Legends are familiar with the hassle of battling adversaries who hide behind doors. Since doors can't typically be destroyed by shooting them, it typically forces players to fall back on grenades or melee attacks if they want to break through. It is possible to block the opening of a door by closing it and standing directly behind it. As a result, a lot of players search for any tips that make opening doors in Apex Legends faster.

Giving the Sentinel the ability to break doors, as suggested by Reddit user Lenny 72 72, is one way the game could accomplish this. In their post, they asked the Apex Legends community for feedback on the sniper rifle's ability to destroy doors when charged, similar to the Rampage LMG's current buff. According to them, this hypothetical upgrade would only cause shots to break through a door rather than penetrate it, making the Sentinel useful against the fleeting barrier without completely removing the protection it provides enemy players.

To provide some context, the Rampage can temporarily increase its rate of fire and become capable of shattering doors with two shots by consuming a thermite grenade. This state is known as being "Revved Up." When a shield cell is used, the Sentinel can be "Amped," temporarily increasing its damage output. Lenny 72 72 thinks it would make sense for both guns to have the door-busting buff when charged, not just the Rampage, given how similar the two mechanics are.

The upgrade would be a welcomed and well-balanced addition to the Sentinel, and many fans have agreed that the suggestion has received a generally positive response. Due to its slow firing rate, the Sentinel is far from being one of Apex Legends' most versatile weapons, but this would also ensure that a door-busting upgrade could be useful without being overpowered, as it might give adversaries time to react when their cover is destroyed.

We'll have to wait and see if Respawn will ever think about giving the Sentinel such a boost. However, players should anticipate new updates to the game's weapons soon since Apex Legends Season 16 is scheduled to release next month.

Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
