Sony Denies Arms Race against Microsoft

Sony is 'very specific' about developers, Denies Arms Race against Microsoft. PlayStation Studios Head Herman Hulst rejects the concept of an arms race, insisting that Sony is extremely selective.

Sony announced the purchase of Housemarque, extending its PlayStation suite of game developers Tuesday morning. Sony also unintentionally seemed to suggest that a purchase of Bluepoint Studios was also available. The report shows that raid growth between PlayStation and its competitor, Xbox, is the latest example. But in spite of so many acquisitions in gaming studios in the last several years, Sony says it does not treat it as an arms race.

If he regards PlayStation Studios Head Herman Hulst, who declares without pause, as arms races in both PlayStation and Xbox "No, not that. Not at all. Not at all." Instead, Hulst notes that PlayStation Studios "is selective," whose studios are part of the team. In other languages, the opinions of PlayStation Studios on procurements have not altered, and there are no exceptions on behalf of the competitors. Or, that is how PlayStation at least wants fans to see the issue further.

From then, Hurst proceeds to characterize the development of PlayStation Studios further. Before he buys a new studio, he says what Sony is searching for. Similar ideals and creative goals are listed as common priorities. He also stresses the need for reciprocal growth to be able to collaborate with PlayStation teams. All we can tell is that PlayStation scrutinized the studios well beyond circumstances.

Hurst's remarks are worth a look at if he implies something regarding Xbox's purchases simultaneously. Xbox Game Studios has expanded dramatically in recent years. It is undisputed. Hurst may think that Xbox has rushed without properly evaluating its purchases. However, there is little proof of this due to the continuously rising output of Xbox in recent years.

Whether fans view the contemporary arms race between PlayStation and Xbox is a major topic, Hulst's words will probably not explain the problem. Xbox is obviously expanding actively to enhance its gaming performance. It is also true that two (and probable third) purchases by PlayStation are more than the business has done in a certain period. However, to call it the arms race, many more of these PlayStation purchases would probably be required, and additional PlayStation games would need to be put in place every year. On that front, time will say.
