The first trailer for the Saints Row remake has split fans on YouTube, but developer Volition has stated that it would not give in to pressure.

The three most-watched versions of the trailer – on the official PlayStation YouTube account, the official Xbox channel, and the official Saints Row channel – have abnormally high levels of dislikes — more than likes, which is rare for YouTube interaction.

At the time of writing, the three videos had been seen almost a million times and garnered nearly 70,000 user interactions (likes or dislikes).

There have been 31,400 likes and 38,400 dislikes, indicating that the response has been slightly more negative than favorable.

One noteworthy result is that the trailer on the official Saints Row account has a substantially lower like-to-dislike ratio than the others.

The trailer on the PlayStation and Xbox channels is currently 50% and 54% positive, respectively, while the one on the Saints Row channel is just 39% positive, indicating that the Saints Row audience is less encouraged by the reboot than the wider video game community is.

Despite this, Volition has stated that it would not adjust its vision for the game based on the initial reception to the trailer.

After responding to a follower with a gif that said "haters going to hate" and was told it was disappointing the fanbase, the official Saints Row Twitter account said, "We are not backing down on this game." We get that; it's new, and it's a unique reaction to a reboot.”

On Wednesday, the Saints Row revival was formally introduced with a CGI video at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event.

The game, simply dubbed Saints Row, is situated in the southwestern American province of Santo Ileso and is slated to be released in February 2022.

The player is a member of the Saints, a group of criminals attempting to establish themselves as a new crime syndicate in the region.

“This full relaunch is the most exciting and exhilarating experience we've packed into a Saints Row experience to date,” Volition chief creative officer Jim Boone said earlier this week in a statement.

“The iconic new setting presents so many intriguing potentials to please gamers, whether they are long-time fans of the series or are just getting started.”

We're looking forward to the game's release in February after seeing the extended presentation we got behind closed doors, as long as the level of quality we saw is maintained throughout the game.

"Through the technically inspiring old life, Volition attempts to bring new life into the Saint Row could just pay off, and while it doesn't promise to be quite as ridiculous as the fourth game's alien-battling nonsense, what we've seen so far assures us that there should still be plenty of fun to be had.” Toisthe latest gaming news site.
