Twenty One Pilots Concert & Scavenger Hunt Announced by Roblox.

Twenty One Pilots, an American rock group, will perform a virtual concert and scavenger hunt in the online game Roblox.

Twenty One Pilots, the Grammy Award-winning combo, will play a virtual concert on Roblox, with a virtual treasure hunt building up to the main event. In-game, new goods inspired by the band will be available for purchase. After Lil Nas X's performance late last year, this will be the second event conducted in Roblox.

For a long time, video games have been experimenting with live musical performances. Fortnite, which most recently featured Ariana Grande as part of the Rift Tour in August, is at the forefront of this endeavor. Meanwhile, earlier this year, The Pokémon Company staged a virtual Post Malone performance, but it was not an in-game event. The aforementioned Lil Nas X concert on Roblox aimed to promote his single "Holiday," and his performance drew a larger attendance than the legendary 2020 Travis Scott concert on Fortnite.

Twenty One Pilots, a band from Ohio, confirmed their Roblox appearance on Twitter. According to the Roblox website, the preshow location will also hold a treasure hunt in addition to the music. On September 8, the hunt will begin, leading to a bigger adventure that will take gamers on a search across the Roblox metaverse. Players will receive unique goodies if they complete the task. The game will also offer Twenty One Pilots-branded products in the store, and the treasure hunt will reward players with similarly themed digital gifts. The preshow will take place from September 15 to 17, followed by the main performance at 4 p.m. PDT/7 p.m. EDT on the final day. It will then repeat every hour until Sunday, September 19th at 11 p.m. PDT/Monday, September 20th at 2 a.m. EDT.

The concert venue will be interactive, with various elements altering based on the music being performed. Players will also be allowed to alter the setlist, potentially making each performance – even encores – unique. The nature of these interactive elements is uncertain, although they might include connections to Twenty One Pilots' prior albums and videos. The bulk of the collaboration's items, such as the "Stressed Out" red beanie, are inspired by the group's previous music videos. It's conceivable that Roblox's aim to appeal to a more adult audience impacted Twenty One Pilots' pick. 

Some may perceive this collaboration with Twenty One Pilot as a reaction to Fortnite's popular Rift Tour, while others may see it as a ruse to divert attention away from Roblox's alleged exploitation of young devs. Whatever the case may be, the numerous albums produced by Twenty One Pilots throughout the course of their career were represented with great care. Both members of the band seem genuinely excited about the cooperation, which might translate to the in-game experience.
