The Ace Attorney series is celebrating its 20th anniversary today, and while it may not be as commercially successful as some of Capcom's other titles, such as Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, it remains one of the company's most notable and adored franchises. While the series has had a few dry times throughout its history, fans of Ace Attorney may still look forward to a bright future.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, a duology of games that were previously Japanese-only that many thought would never make it to the West, was released this year. Despite the lack of a completely new Ace Attorney game, Capcom is at least aware of the series' popularity and deems Ace Attorney significant enough to commemorate in some way.

A webpage dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ace Attorney is now up. It's only in Japanese, so Western fans will need to use Google Translate or know Japanese to understand it, but it mainly consists of a happy message from the production team, a full list of titles and where to buy them, and information on a few initiatives Capcom has planned for the anniversary.

First is an art show called Capcom vs. Osamu Tezuka Characters, which displays the art of different Capcom characters done by Tezuka Productions (the animation company founded by Astro Boy creator Osamu Tezuka) and Capcom art of Tezuka characters. The anniversary will feature new Ace Attorney drawings, but it will regrettably only be held in Japan.

Furthermore, Capcom's online shop will sell merchandise featuring new art by illustrator Yusuke Nakamura and art director/character designer Kazuya Nuri. The first artwork is a stylized portrayal of Ace Attorney protagonist Phoenix Wright and his prosecutor opponent Miles Edgeworth, as well as Maya Fey and Franziska von Karma. The second portrays the core characters of the Great Ace Attorney games, with Phoenix's ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo in the foreground, surrounded by friends and allies.

They will be available on November 19th and December 17th, respectively, but quantities are restricted, and Capcom will only take pre-orders until October 31st. On the positive side, the Capcom store does ship internationally, so die-hard Western fans who are prepared to pay the appropriate taxes may get their hands on the artwork.

There is also a History section, which is expected to chronicle the series' history since its inception in 2001. However, the part is unfinished, consisting of only photos of Phoenix, Edgeworth, Ryunosuke, and Apollo Justice, as well as a "coming soon" statement.

Capcom isn't currently working on a new Ace Attorney game, according to the website. However, a major Capcom leak from last year revealed a new Ace Attorney collection containing the fourth, fifth, and sixth mainstream games, as well as Ace Attorney 7, which is now in production. Capcom's intentions to localize The Great Ace Attorney were also revealed in the same leak, so fans are hoping that the remainder of the rumored Ace Attorney plans is correct.
