Starfield introduces the spacefaring factions and system

Bethesda hasn't released any new information on Starfield, its planned sci-fi action RPG, in a long time. Three of Starfield's unique places, as well as the people that live in each, were presented to fans a month ago by Bethesda. Bethesda has returned with a new Starfield video, this time digging deeper into the universe that gamers will soon be exploring. The Settled Systems is the most recent video, and it gives a quick overview of Starfield's environment and current situation as players begin their adventure.

The settled systems are 50 lightyears away from our current solar system in a region of the Milky Way. In galactic terms, they're essentially neighbors. The game takes place 20 years after the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective fought a devastating war that ended in an uneasy truce in the year 2330. The video begins with Bethesda design director Emil Pagliarulo claiming that the Settled Systems are part of "our" Solar System, despite the fact that the graphic shows the Settled Systems to be a separate, fictional solar system 50 light-years from Sol and Earth. Starfield takes place in "our" galaxy, the Milky Way, according to Bethesda's design director.

Even in the absence of a big conflict, stable systems remain risky. Pirates, mercenaries, anti-social spacers, and "fanatical religious zealots of House Varu" are all lurking in the shadows, waiting to prey on unsuspecting explorers like you. Constellation's health insurance, hopefully, is adequate. We also got a preview of some of Starfield's concept art in the video. The first is a cyberpunk-style city, which is most likely New Atlantis or another United Colonies planet's slums. The second is a utopian metropolis, perhaps where New Atlantis' higher echelons write the colony's rules. Finally, we're treated to character art of the pirate, mercenary, and spacer factions in a desert wasteland, most likely on one of the outer planets.

Pagliarulo then goes into detail about some of the "human hazards" that players will face in Starfield. To put it another way, adversary Starfield factions that players will almost certainly encounter during their adventures. The Ecliptic Mercenaries, who appear to be well armored in hi-tech gear, the Crimson Fleet pirates, whose suits appear more cobbled together, violent spacers who appear to be unhappy space workers, and the religious zealots of House Va'ruun, who are left unseen, are among them.

Finally, the video discusses the organization of the player and how it fits into the Settled Systems. The mission of Constellation is to "uncover the mysteries of the galaxy." Players will assume the role of a new member of Constellation, exploring the Settled Systems and everything it has to offer.

In keeping with Starfield's past videos, the United Colonies can be linked to its capital city, New Atlantis, and the Freestar Collective to its own capital, Akila, all of which should be accessible. To say the least, players will very certainly be involved in diplomacy between the two factions. Fans of Skyrim will rejoice at the prospect of Bethesda returning to the Stormcloak and Imperial Legion factions. Starfield gamers have a galaxy to explore.

Starfield will be a massive game with many open landscapes to explore and far more dialogue than Skyrim. According to Bethesda director Todd Howard, who spoke at the Tokyo Game Show last month, this is the case. He claims that not only will the Japanese localization have 300 voice actors, but that Starfield will also be Bethesda's "biggest translation endeavor ever."

Starfield will be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S on November 11, 2022.
