Next year is the 30th anniversary of Mortal Kombat, and we'd want to celebrate by remaking the original Mortal Kombat Trilogy (MKT) for PC and consoles. MKT is a classic game that combines the characters from MK1, MK2, MK3, and UMK3 into one game. It also has practically every stage from those games.
An indie studio has begun a petition with the aim of persuading Warner Bros. to allow it to rebuild the Mortal Kombat Trilogy in 4K. Eyeballistic has started a Change.org petition in the hopes of gathering enough signatures to show the IP owner that there is enough demand for it to be remastered.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which was released in 1996 and combines all of the characters from Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 into one game, will be remastered in 4K using Unreal Engine 5. The company approached Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon in 2016 with plans to restore the original Mortal Kombat in HD, according to the petition.
According to the team, Boon was supportive of the proposal, but Warner Bros., which owns the Mortal Kombat IP, rejected down the presentation because it wasn't persuaded the game would sell 100,000 copies to justify marketing costs.
The hope is that the new petition would demonstrate to Warner Bros. that there is a demand for a remastered edition of the Mortal Kombat Trilogy and persuade them to proceed with the project.
As Eyeballistic said, "Every aspect of every stage and character will be lovingly recreated in spectacular 3D." Of course, there will be every fatality, brutality, friendship, and animality. Through the use of Unreal Engine 5, the characters and stages will be upgraded to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second gameplay action. All of the music will be remade, with a modern cinematic sound that uses actual instruments."
If the petition is successful, the studio will pitch Warner Bros. with the intention of launching a crowdfunding campaign to further demonstrate that the game will sell.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy Remake First Look At 4K.
Please show your support by signing the petition if you want this remake to happen," the company requested. "Once we hit 100,000 supporters, we'll approach WB with a plan to use crowdfunding to show that the game will sell like crazy.
