According to the game's creators, the game's multiple narrative campaigns will provide new insights into Skyrim's lore, including a prequel to the game's events. Skyrim: The Adventure Game will be available for pre-order on the new Gamefound platform on Tuesday. The final product, which will also be sold in stores, could be delivered to backers as early as next spring. Many fans shared a memeified version of a classic quote after Skyrim: Anniversary Edition was announced, saying "And Todd Howard wept, seeing as he had no more places to port Skyrim," but it appears Bethesda has found one more way for the beloved RPG to live on in a tabletop board game that was announced earlier today. Modiphius Entertainment's The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - the Adventure Game is a TTRPG reimagining of the game that includes expanded lore and a prequel story to Skyrim's main quest.
Skyrim Anniversary is Getting a Lovely New Feature
Modiphius Entertainment games developer Juan Echenique revealed in an interview with Polygon that the first campaign players will experience is a story set 25 years before the events of Skyrim's main quest. Due to the prequel nature of the story, players can expect to see several familiar faces from the original game, but they will be much younger.
Because the Dragonborn is an NPC in Skyrim - the Adventure Game, the second campaign begins just before they are discovered and ends after they have arrived, players will be able to see the events of the game from a different perspective. Players will eventually "cross paths with" the Dragonborn, but it is unclear when this will occur during the main quest.
There hasn't been a deep dive into the game's two major campaigns' narrative elements yet, but based on the information above, Skyrim - the Adventure Game appears to be offering a fresh take on the events of Skryim that have been experienced over and over again with the many different editions that have been published over the years. With over 600 cards in its deck, the game may appear intimidating to those who are unfamiliar with it, but its lengthy campaigns aren't the only way to play it; it can also be played in smaller one-off increments.
However apart from the tabletop game, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is another anticipated release for The Elder Scrolls 5 because it adds a lot of new content to the base game. Many of the new additions are in the form of the Creation Club, implying that the new version feels like a celebration of Skyrim's community and a way for Bethesda to give back to the fans who helped make it the gaming touchstone that it is.
