Gaming News - Naughty Dog has released a trailer for Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Naughty Dog has released a trailer for Jak and Daxter from 2001 to 2021. With a look back at the original game in the series, Naughty Dog celebrates 20 years of Jak and Daxter.

Naughty Dog has released the original 2001 teaser trailer for Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary. For many of us at Naughty Dog, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was not only one of the many titles that motivated us to pursue a career in video games, but it was also a game that played a huge role in our cherished childhood memories.

During the PlayStation 2 era, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy launched one of the most popular platforming franchises. Jak and Daxter are celebrating its 20th anniversary, and Naughty Dog has released the game's original teaser trailer to celebrate the anniversary.

Isn't Jak and Daxter already that time?

On December 3, Jak and Daxter will celebrate their 20th anniversary. The series has aged beautifully in relation to many of the previous era's platformers. In fact, it's probably the one that comes to mind first when people think about PlayStation 2-era platformers. When compared to today, the video gaming landscape in the PS2 era seemed somewhat different. In terms of popular genres, the mascot platformer remained one of the most popular and profitable sorts of games that studios could create, with PlayStation's "big three" of Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet and Clank at the time.

Unfortunately, Jak and Daxter were the first of these three franchises to stop receiving new games, with Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier being released in 2009 on PS2 and PSP, despite the fact that it was not created by Naughty Dog. The three franchises did, however, collaborate on PlayStation Move Heroes, a motion control game unlike any of the originals.

The earlier generations of 3D platformers, such as those for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation, had clunky, floaty controls and bad camera angles. After an entire generation of gamers struggled with the intricacies of creating and navigating in 3D, the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube proved to be enormous leaps forward. The use of DualShock and the C-Stick (rather than the C-Buttons on the Nintendo 64) resulted in a far more fluid camera experience.

Naughty Dog has released the original teaser for Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy to commemorate the game's 20th anniversary, providing early glimpses of the game before its ultimate release. Naughty Dog shows off Sandover Village, Forbidden Jungle, and Misty Island in the teaser, which is mostly a visual presentation of the stunning locales that the then-more capable PS2 was supposed to give in 2001. Partway through the trailer, the message "The Legacy Begins" appears, followed by the date "5-17-2001," which is certainly not the game's release date, but was, as Naughty Dog points out in the video's description, the day the game was formally announced.

Fans will get a lingering image of Jak and Daxter themselves before the trailer closes, however it isn't their normal looks. When Jak and Daxter appear on the screen, everything saves their eyes is blacked out, thus disguising their character designs. Aside from a suggestion of the term "legacy" in one caption, the trailer never mentions Jak and Daxter or a title of any kind. Coming out of the first Crash Bandicoot PS1 games, Naughty Dog was clearly doing everything it could to generate anticipation for what it had in store for the PS2.

While it's great to see Naughty Dog remembering its roots, fans should keep in mind that Jak and Daxter were never forgotten by the studio, even as recently as The Last of Us: Part 2. Precursor Eggs from Jak and Daxter can be found throughout the Uncharted series and both portions of The Last of Us, with them, often appearing as a "Strange Artifact" in these newer titles. In addition, Jak and Daxter appear in a smart easter egg in this year's Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, a poignant nod to the two series' original partnership on the PS2.

What's the total number of Jak and Daxter's?

There are a total of six Jak and Daxter games available. These are the following:

  • Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
  • Jak II
  • Jak III
  • Daxter
  • Jak X: Combat Racing
  • Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier

The duo appears in each of the PS2 games together, with the exception of 'Daxter.' Daxter is one of our favorite PSP games, and it revolves around a small furry sidekick who is attempting to escape an imprisoned Jak.

Is Jak a human being?

Many of the characters in the game's setting, including Jak, are of a human-elf hybrid race. For the most part, he looks like you and me, however, he has a little of 'Hylian Ear' about him for that additional dream sense.

Eco has a variety of effects on Jak throughout the series of games, altering his appearance and providing him with extra abilities in specific situations.

What kind of animal is Daxter?

Daxter is a hybrid of an otter and a weasel known as an Ottsel. He wasn't always a furry mischief-maker, but... At the very least, he wasn't always furry. Daxter falls into a pool of Dark Eco at the start of the first game, the Precursor Legacy, and transforms into the sidekick we know and love. While Jak begins as a strong and silent type, Daxter is the one who delivers the majority of the humor and performs the majority of the talking. It's a fantastic system that has proven successful for other duos like Banjo and Kazooie. So don't worry, rest of the series, he makes a woman Ottsel pal.

Who Created The Jak And Daxter Video Games?

The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing were all developed by Naughty Dog, who started the series in 2001. Ready at Dawn worked on Daxter's PSP journey, while High Impact Games handled The Lost Frontier. Sony Interactive Entertainment owns the franchise.

Who Developed Jak & Daxter?

Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin, the founders of Naughty Dog, created the duo as well as the universe in which they live.

Which Jak and Daxter game do you think is the best?

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

That is simply my perspective, as this is the game that puts everything in action and transforms Daxter into the legendary character that we all know and love. It's also the most popular game among critics, with numerous gaming sites consistently putting it in the high 90s.

How many Jak And Daxter copies have been sold?

15 million copies were produced. That includes all of the games, as well as collections from other PS platforms. On its own, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy sold over 2 million copies.

What Are Some Other Games In Which Jack And Daxter Have Appeared?

The Jak and Daxter Collection for the PS3 and PS Vita, as well as the Jak and Daxter Bundle for the PS4, featured Jak and his Ottsel-features. There are also numerous references to Ratchet and Clank characters as well as characters from the Uncharted games. In PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Hot Shots Golf Fore!, the two made cameo cameos as selectable characters. They've appeared as skins in both the LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet: Deadlocked games.

Will a new Jak and Daxter game be released for the PS5?

Fans will rejoice to learn that a new game is rumored to be entering the list of the top PS5 titles. Unfortunately, it's considered to be a better-looking recreation of the first three games. Sadly, I say; that would still be really fantastic, especially with the PS5's power.

However, it's been a long time since The Lost Frontier was released, so the duo may make a comeback in a whole new adventure for the next console in 2021! Everything is crossed for us.

PS2, PS3, and PS4 versions of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy are available.
