Hogwart Legacy May be delayed until 2023

The next Harry Potter role-playing game, Hogwarts Legacy, may not be launched until 2023, according to a journalist.

A PlayStation insider and host of Sacred Symbols has given his opinion on the matter. "I heard backstage that The game won't be launched this year," says Colin Moriarty. Sadly, this is a quite detailed analysis. Moriarty says he's excited about the game's debut, but that it needs more time in the oven, according to what he's observed.

Although Moriarty didn't go into detail, the game hasn't been shown in public in a long time and has no release date beyond 2022.

Rachel Wakely, Warner Bros. general manager, spoke to Toy World magazine late last year about the Wizarding World IP, mentioning "two significant releases in 2022." She mentioned the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbeldore, which will be released on April 8 in the United Kingdom. Hogwarts Legacy was the second.

"Based on what we've seen so far, the launch will be well worth the wait and provide fans with a unique way to engage with the franchise."

If the report is accurate, WB Games is unlikely to reintroduce the title at the PlayStation State of Play in February. Meanwhile, if the game is postponed until 2023, that will be a bad sign. Many games have been impacted and postponed as a result of the pandemic, but Hogwarts Legacy was originally slated for 2021. Taking a two-year break would not be the best option. 

This assumption, however, is based on the report's accuracy. Moriarty is largely regarded as a trustworthy source, but this not only does not negate the fact that this information is unofficial and subject to change, but it also contradicts earlier and recent rumors about the game claiming that it will divulge this information. The second trailer will be delivered later this year.

Following controversy over comments made by series creator J.K. Rowling, it was also rumored that Hogwarts Legacy will provide the opportunity for players to construct transgender heroes.

Many Harry Potter movie stars, including Actress Emma Watson and Eddie Redmayne, have openly voiced their support for the transgender community in the last 18 months after Rowling was criticized for making many transphobic statements on her Twitter account.

In response to the author's comments, some members of the game's development team have worked to make the game as inclusive as possible, according to a Bloomberg article citing anonymous sources at Warner Bros.' Avalanche studio.
