Battlefield 2042's First Roadmap is Revealed by DICE.
Battlefield 2042 Roadmap

After a long wait, Battlefield 2042 players finally have a schedule for when new features, seasonal content, and bug updates will be added to the game.

Battlefield 2042 has had a long journey since its November release. Although fans were eager for the experience due in large part to pre-launch teasers, the final product appears to have had no shortage of flaws and challenges.

Fans have taken issue with several basic concepts, such as the wide battlefields, a lack of Battlefield "classic" features like a scoreboard and VOIP, as well as experts.

Despite the fact that DICE has released a lot of patches, things have been uncomfortably quiet as the holiday season approaches, leaving fans wondering when and if the game will be restored. As the weeks passed, fans began to abandon ship, as indicated by the rise in player counts for previous Battlefield games, which swiftly surpassed 2042, which has yet to recover. While it may have taken a while, DICE is finally ready to talk about the game's future, providing the first roadmap to give gamers a peek into its plans.

DICE released their first Battlefield 2042 roadmap ahead of EA's earnings call with investors. DICE said that the much sought Scoreboard, voice communication, and a more informative player profile are coming as soon as possible, reiterating the studio's dedication to improving the game as well as community communication. Other changes mentioned in the post include an upgraded ping system, Portal's continuous expansion, and other gunplay tweaks.

The post went on to discuss the arrival of Season 1, which appears to indicate an unfortunate delay, as it is now slated for a release in early Summer. DICE plans to release four new seasons, four new experts, new locales, and fresh content over the next 12 months. An exclusive Steadfast Legendary Bundle is being prepared with the next update as an apology and thank you to Battlefield 2042 Gold and Ultimate Edition players, containing a new Specialist skin for Mackay, two weapon skins, and the Iron Chariot vehicle skin, as well as a melee weapon and player card and background.

While the news should be welcomed by gamers, it's unclear whether it would be sufficient, especially given the disappointing announcement of a Season 1 delay. It's clear that DICE is serious about fixing the game, but it's unclear how much time Electronic Arts is ready to devote. Battlefield 2042 has already been rumored to be a huge disappointment for EA, and speculations suggest the publisher is searching for methods to save it, including turning it into a free-to-play title. At this moment, it's anyone's guess whether or not that will happen.

For PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, Battlefield 2042 is available.
