Elden Ring currently has 764,835 concurrent Steam users, which is almost 6X the than Dark Souls III ever had.

Just hours after its release, Fromsoftware's latest hit three-quarters of a million concurrent players.

Elden Ring had a strong start on Steam, with over 764,835 concurrent players just hours after its release. That's approximately six times more than of concurrent players saw in Dark Souls III.

According to SteamDB, the game reached its highest concurrent players three hours after it was launched on Steam, with 764,835. Given that it was the middle of the night in Europe, and that it was a Thursday night, this amount is certain to be topped this weekend.

Dark Souls III has the greatest concurrent player count of 129,975 six years ago. Until the release of Elden Ring, this was the most number of concurrent players attained by any Dark Souls game, with Dark Souls I and II only achieving 24,501 and 79,528 separately.

Elden Ring has earned near-universal acclaim from critics and is already near the top of numerous 'best game of all time' lists. With a 'Top Critic Average' of 96 based on 116 reviews at the time of writing, Elden Ring is the second-highest-rated title ever on OpenCritic, trailing only The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Grand Theft Auto V. (all of which currently hold a slightly lower true average score).

Elden Ring is now available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, after a one-month delay.

Elden Ring of VGC Review is From Software's most important game since Demon's Souls. "Elden Ring is a great game that can still give the incomparable pleasure of fighting a big monster after an hours-long struggle," reviewer Jordan Middler noted.

"Those who worship at the church of Souls-like will discover a game that is virtually everything they ever desired."
