Polyphony Digital showed Gran Turismo 7's incredible ray-tracing footage captured on PlayStation 5 during the recent State of Play stream.

The first State of Play stream of 2022 showed the excellent quality of ray tracing in the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 7. Surprisingly, the next driving simulator is so significant for the series that it includes a first Porsche concept car designed only for the game.

Somewhere at end of 2021, it was announced that GT 7 would have to include Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, one-of-a-kind vehicles available only in the game's virtualized world. The Porsche team designed an outstanding futuristic design with identifiable nods to certain iconic Porsche models, notably the renowned Porsche 911. The car's interior has similar accuracy and quality, providing the feeling of piloting a finely made spaceship. Gran Turismo 7's most recent presentation shows this level of detail.

Over half an hour of Gran Turismo 7 incredible gameplay footage recorded in the PS5 version of the game was revealed in the first PlayStation State of Play of 2022. Gran Turismo 7 is designed to showcase what actual next-gen graphic quality looks like as one of the largest PS5 exclusives to arrive in 2022, and based on the recent showcase, it does. The anticipated racing game can now take advantage of native ray tracing technology on the latest PlayStation platform, which performs brilliantly in GT7.

Photorealistic graphics based on ray tracing are used in the PS5 edition of the driving simulator, resulting in lighting and reflections that are virtually lifelike. The true benefit of the technology, however, is the expression of cars, which precisely reflects the surrounding surroundings thanks to their gleaming surfaces. The Livestream recording starts at minute 26 and includes ray-tracing footage.

Although the recent Gran Turismo 7 demo is definitely thrilling, it contradicts Polyphony's statements about ray tracing support from September 2021. At the time, the studio's CEO stated that ray tracing would only be used in replays and garage sequences and that the technique would not be used during races. This limitation was not highlighted in the most recent show, so it's unclear whether Polyphony has found a fix or not.

According to Polyphony's Gran Turismo 7 developers, the game represents the apex of the franchise's progression over the years. It is true with the game's graphics, as the gameplay footage may easily be mistaken for real-life racing footage. Using ray tracing to achieve such a high level of visual perfection is a fantastic way to commemorate the Gran Turismo series' 25th anniversary. It's also, perhaps, one of the most effective ways to introduce newbies to the driving simulator genre.

On March 4, 2022, Gran Turismo 7 will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
