The Mobile Game Metal Slug is Getting a Console Remake. Metal Slug: Awakening, a popular Chinese mobile game, will be translated and released to PlayStation consoles later this year.

Many people were surprised to know that the Metal Slug franchise would be continued. That isn't because Metal Slug is made up of awful games or isn't popular; on the contrary, it seems to belong in a different age of gaming. Metal Slug, on the other hand, has found its successes as it has been able. Metal Slug: Awakening, a spin-off game developed by TiMi Studios in China and published by Tencent for mobile devices, is the most recent example. Tencent is even planning a global release of Metal Slug: Awakening with PlayStation versions.

Tencent confirmed on Metal Slug: Awakening's official Twitter account that the mobile game will be making its way to PlayStation platforms. Both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 will be compatible. Tencent is unable to provide any additional information on the subject. There's no word on when Metal Slug: Awakening will be released, whether it'll be released in China first or not, or anything else.

Metal Slug: Awakening is currently only available in China for iOS and Android smartphones. A release date for the mobile version of the game in the United States has yet to be confirmed. However, there is more to say about it. In January, a beta test was done that was so popular that it caused the game's servers to fail twice. Then, only yesterday, it was announced that Metal Slug: Awakening would be released in the west "very soon" on iOS and Android.

The hint is that Metal Slug fans may hear some good news shortly. The sequence of announcements, which began with the mobile release "very soon" and then included support for the PS4 and PS5 shortly after, suggests that Metal Slug: Awakening will be released soon.
