Pokemon Sword and Shield is the second best-selling title in the series.

This week has given plenty of good news for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but now we've got updated sales figures for the Switch's last mainstream title for Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Sword and Shield have managed to climb the Pokémon stairway, surpassing Pokémon Gold and Silver lifetime sales, according to Serebii webmaster Joe Merrick (sitting at 23,700,000). For a long time, this has been predicted.

According to Nintendo's latest sales numbers, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are currently the franchise's second best-selling entries.

It was ranked fourth in May 2020. In August of that year, it had already climbed another notch to third place.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield have sold 23.90 million copies, according to Nintendo. That means it has outsold Pokemon Gold and Silver, which sold 23.70 million units at the conclusion of its existence.

According to Nintendo's most recent financial figures, Sword and Shield have sold just about 24 million units, however, the original Game Boy titles from 1996 remain in the first place. Here are the latest stats:

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield were launched for the Nintendo Switch in November 2019. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released in November 2021.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus also had a strong launch last week, with Nintendo reporting that Pokemon Legends: Arceus Have Been Sold Over 6.5 Million Globally.
