PS Plus Free Games for February 2022 Could Be Preparing for a better in March.

Following the controversial selection of free games for February 2022, a minor PS Plus pattern may suggest that March will be considerably better.

If anyone wants to claim the PS Plus free games for February 2022, they may do so now, however many people are disappointed with this month's offering. It all usually comes down to the reality that each game uses a genre or feature that has never performed well on PS Plus, thus this response had to be expected.

UFC 4 (PS4), Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep (PS4), and Planet Coaster: Console Edition (PS5) is among the PS Plus free titles scheduled for February 2022. Although UFC 4 isn't a horrible game, it is a sports game, and sports games have never been particularly popular on PlayStation Plus. This is due to the fact that most sports fans will already own the most recent installment; in the meantime, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is in perfect condition. It's just not impressive for a single Borderlands 2 release with such a limited lifespan. It's most likely designed to raise awareness of Wonderlands, but it's also unneeded.

Then there's Planet Coaster, which is probably the worst offender for many PS Plus subscribers. It's a theme park building management and simulation, which isn't a horrible game type in and of itself. PS Plus, on the other hand, does not get along with simulation games. Sony offered two simulation games on PS Plus in May 2020—Farming Sim 19 and Cities: Skylines—and this is the only time a petition garnered a large number of supporters, requesting that the free PS Plus games be changed.

PS Plus, on the other hand, follows a variety of patterns, even if they are impossible to detect. However, they aren't impossible to track. PS Plus provided away two games for the majority of 2020: one huge and one niche. Then, as the PS5's release date approached, it began to give away a slew of heavy hitters, three to four titles at a time. It's more difficult to tell what's going on right now, but hindsight is often 2020.

Sony could improve the PS Plus selection in March, though it's impossible to know for sure. It's possible that February isn't the best month, but it lays the stage for a big March anyway. It sounds like a clever, believable marketing strategy to decrease expectations and then hit with a coup de grace. Historically, some of PS Plus's worst months have been followed by some of its best.

Following the demand for PS Plus free games in May 2020, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Call of Duty: WWII were added in June 2020. These two shooters arrived at a time when there was increased interest in Star Wars and Call of Duty due to a variety of reasons, and it was a fairly well-received month—even if it did strengthen the concept that a Call of Duty game will be released on PS Plus every year.

In comparison, the PS Plus free games for February 2022 are nearly identical to those for February 2021. Destruction AllStars (PS5), Control: Ultimate Edition (PS5/PS4), and Concrete Genie (PS4) was introduced to the service a year ago. Concrete Genie, despite being a solid, fascinating VR game, didn't create much of an impression, similar to Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. Control is a good game, but like UFC 4, it's one that's already been purchased by a lot of people. Destruction AllStars, on the other hand, didn't get off to a good start and never really got going, much like simulation games like Planet Coaster do on PS Plus.

Then, in March 2021, Sony swept the game with an incredible month, releasing Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Farpoint, Remnant: From the Ashes, and Maquette. But Sony didn't stop there: as part of its Play at Home Initiative, Sony gave away not only Destruction AllStars for the second month, but also Ratchet and Clank for free. Indeed, there was something for everyone in all of this.

It's worth mentioning, however, that cherry-picking a couple of months from PS Plus' past isn't always the greatest way to seek patterns. Back it up to where the terrible month is the second, and you've got yourself a pattern of things becoming worse. However, because time runs forward and not backward, there is reason to believe that March 2022 will be a better month for PS Plus than February 2022.

Furthermore, PS Plus subscribers are already aware that GTA Online will be coming to the service, although as a "bonus" game given that it will be released on March 15 rather than the first Tuesday. This means that three more games will be released to go along with it, and considering Rockstar Games' recent acknowledgment of Grand Theft Auto 6's development, it's expected to do quite well.

In fact, in 2022, PS Plus is still struggling to find its foothold in terms of patterns and releases. The PS Plus free games in January got it off to a great start, but February should only be a warm-up for March.
