Assassin's Creed II is an action-adventure video game released in 2009 by Ubisoft Montréal. It is the sequel to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and the second major installment in the Assassin's Creed series. The game was first released in November 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and then in March 2010 for Microsoft Windows and October 2010 for Mac OS X. Three downloadable expansion packs were published on Xbox Live, and several minor game-related features could be redeemed on Uplay.

While the first Assassin's Creed got mixed reviews, it was recognized for its unique storyline and setting, as well as for introducing fluid traversal and combat techniques inspired by Ubisoft's other well-known title, Prince of Persia. Assassin's Creed II, the game's immediate sequel, was recognized as a significant improvement over the first in practically every aspect. It streamlined the previous game's free-running controls to be much more accurate and speedy, while still providing the player with a genuine reproduction of Renaissance Italy to completely explore and immerse themselves in.

The historical plot of Assassin's Creed II describes the life of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, an Italian noble from Florence who follows in the footsteps of his Assassin ancestor Altair after his family is murdered during the Pazzi conspiracy. While growing and evolving as a character, he finally embarks on a mission of vengeance against Rodrigo Borgia and the Borgia family. Assassin's Creed II is a great place to start for new fans because it not only features one of the most memorable tales in the franchise's history, but it also neatly summarizes the previous game's present scenario for beginners to goods produced.
