According to 'overnight feedback,' Sea of Thieves is increasing the number of ships available on each server.

Since its release in 2018, Rare's live-service pirate game Sea of Thieves has maintained its popularity. This is probably thanks to Rare's continuing support of the game, which includes major updates, balance adjustments, quality of life enhancements, and a variety of cosmetic items for players to collect. Rarely tweaked the number of ships and people in each Sea of Thieves server recently, but it's already altering things up again.

Rare made it so that all servers could host six crews at a time, with a maximum of 16 players, with the January update for Sea of Thieves. Rare, on the other hand, has opted to reduce the number of ships in Sea of Thieves servers from six to five. The maximum number of players on Sea of Thieves servers will remain at 16, but there will be fewer ships wandering the open waters. Rare thinks that this modification would increase the variety of ship sizes in Sea of Thieves and improve the game's matching speed.

This decision has elicited a mixed response. Some members of the Sea of Thieves community are happy about the move because it means they'll be less likely to be attacked by other players. Others are requesting that Rare boost the number of ships in Sea of Thieves since they appreciate the PvP aspect of the game and find fighting other pirate crews thrilling.

Because Sea of Thieves is a live-service game, there's always the possibility that the number of ships and players on each server will change. Rare, on the other hand, does not appear to be planning to significantly raise the number of ships or people on a server. After all, Sea of Thieves is an Xbox One game just as much as it is a PC and Xbox Series X game, which means that older technology is likely limiting its potential player base.

However, Sea of Thieves fans should expect many updates in the months ahead, as the game is still highly popular. Some of these updates may be significant, such as the Sea of Thieves Pirates of the Caribbean update, which introduced plot content based on Disney's pirate-themed film franchise, but the majority will be minor.

Support for Sea of Thieves may go even longer than expected, as Rare's next game, Everwild on Xbox Series X, is apparently experiencing some development issues.

For PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, Sea of Thieves is now available.
