Whenever people look back on the games that have been published in the last year, the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition launch will be the one that sticks out in the minds of many fans. Despite the fact that the GTA Trilogy is being patched to fix a slew of flaws, it has harmed the reputations of both Rockstar Games and the developer Grove Street Games. Rockstar promised that fans would be able to return to the original PS2-era classics, but even that has left some gamers disappointed. A few days ago Providing Old Reece his natural hair back may be a modest gesture to fans who had requested that pieces of the original GTA: San Andreas experience be brought back to the Definitive Edition.

Grand Theft Auto fans will once again be able to recreate GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas in their original incarnations, according to a recent tweet from Rockstar Games. The titles, however, will only be available through the Rockstar Games Launcher, and only to those who already own or plan to purchase a copy of the remaster before July 1, 2022. But it gets worse: it's only available for PC users at the moment.

Here is the consequence, individuals have been leaving comments under the tweet, expressing their dissatisfaction with the fact that console owners are unable to download the old Grand Theft Auto trilogy games. One user was unimpressed that users who paid full price for the Definitive Edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch would not receive the previous games. Others have wondered if consoles will get the same treatment as PC users, but it doesn't appear like the classics will be coming to any device other than the PC at the time of writing.

This would sound right for Rockstar to re-release them on consoles, or even only for PC gamers who want to download the games through Steam or another platform. The Grand Theft Auto games were taken from the market soon before the remastered trilogy was released, causing great consternation among fans, especially following the Definitive Edition's poor response. It means that players could only play the remastered at the time, with no option to go back to the classics unless they previously owned them.

GTA Trilogy will almost probably go down as one of the year's worst disappointments. Rockstar's promise of bringing back legendary PS2-era games could have saved the company's tarnishing image. However, the fact that it's only available to a select group of players, via the company's own launcher, and for a limited time just tarnishes its reputation even more.
